Community managed ecological sanitation and waste management project for Livingstone, Zambia (2014-2016)

Project aims to improve poor sanitation and waste management situation in the city of Livingstone, situated in Southern-Zambia, city known from the mighty Victoria Falls. The local partner is an NGO named Livingstone Green Iniative (LGI). Overall objective is to establish community managed ecological dry toilet (DT) sanitation as an alternative for the conventional sanitation approaches in water&sanitation and solid waste management. Community Dry Sanitation Initiative in Monze, Zambia (2014-2015)

Global Dry toilet Association of Finland along with the local partner, Green Living Movement (GLM) plan to improve the environmental sanitation standards and contribute to poverty alleviation in Freedom compound in Monze, Zambia. Read more.

Sanitation Improvement and Social Enterprise in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (2014-2016)

In Dar es Salaam DSM, Tanzania, around 80% of the population lack of improved sanitation and water services. These people live mainly in informal settlements and lack of resources to improve their living conditions. The project aims to improve the social wellbeing of the population living in informal settlements by ensuring universal access to improved sanitation and water services. In addition, the project intends to increase economic growth and ensures sustainability by promoting the creation of a sustainable community based enterprise. Read more,

Swaziland 2 Mbabane Dry Sanitation and Waste Management Project (2014-2016)

The goal of the project is to improve sanitation and waste management in the three project communities (Mnyamatsini, Mangwaneni ja Malagwane), and to disseminate best practices of Msunduza to other areas of Swaziland. The project will continue the cooperation established during the Msunduza Dry Sanitation Project and the Environmental Health Education Project (EHEP), and combine and utilise the best practices from the two projects. ISO -standardization

The Global Dry Toilet Association of Finland has been invited to an international standardization work (ISO TC 224/ WG 8) of the Kenya Bureau of Standards. The aim of the project is to determine targets and requirements of well implemented drinking- and waste water treatment systems.

Dry toilet project – from idea to reality!

The project is carried out in 2013 and it is funded by the Pirkanmaa`s Centre of Economic Development, Transport and the Environment. The financing is from the Agricultural Fund for the development of the European countryside.

The aim of the project is to give information and counseling to people from remote locations about the choices of dry toilets and their fitness as a solution to wastewater handling. The target areas are the villages and communities of Pirkanmaa (Finland) which are not part of any sewage system.
