Getting there and around

Due to its central location, Tampere has good connections to and from anywhere in Finland, and also has an international airport.

Travelling to Tampere

There are regular bus connections to Tampere city centre from Tampere-Pirkkala airport. You can check out the bus schedules and timetables here. As the place of departure, please type “Pirkkalan lentoasema”, and as destination your hotel address. The journey planner lists the available bus connections, often including a transfer of buses. The price is 2,60 €, to be paid in cash when boarding the bus, and the ticket is valid for one hour. Therefore, when transferring buses within one hour, you can use the same ticket.

There’s also a transfer bus to and from Ryanair flights in between Tampere-Pirkkala airport and Tampere railway station. The price is 6 €, to be paid in cash when boarding the bus. Timetables can be found here. The bus does not drop off passengers along the route, and the ticket is only valid in the Ryanair bus.

Also Helsinki-Vantaa airport serves visitors of Tampere region, located about 2,5 hour bus ride, or 1,5 hour train ride away from Tampere. You can check the timetables and buy the tickets online to use trains and long-distance buses within Finland from the links below. It’s usually also possible to buy the tickets from either the station or when boarding the vehicle, but it’s good to reserve some cash for this. The prices vary according to for example the date and time of the day.

Travelling in Tampere

An unlimited ticket for the local buses during the conference days is included in the conference fee. Thus you are allowed to travel by local buses with your conference badge, by showing it to the driver when boarding. You can find all the bus connections in Tampere from the local journey planner by typing in the address you are departing from and the address you would like to travel to.

If you are using the local buses outside of the conference days, a single bus ticket is 2,60 € with one hour transfer time. If you are frequently traveling by bus also outside of the conference days, it might be worth buying the tourist ticket, which costs 6 € for the first day and 4 € for each consequtive day. The conference venue Hiedanranta’s address is Hiedanranta, 33400 Tampere. Buses 3, 3A, 3B, 3R, 21, 28A, 28B, 35, 37, 80 and 85V from the city center (bus stop Hiedanranta 1010).
